LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Although you always act with the best of intentions, they don’t always bring the desired result?

You wish to communicate appropriately and effectively, be taken seriously, be appreciated in your function and achieve the desired results while remaining yourself.

  • You are often surprised when things are not done as agreed.

  • You see your team's potential, but you can't really exploit it to the full.

  • You often have to resolve misunderstandings and conflicts.

  • You are concerned about the high absenteeism of your employees.

Imagine that you are a role model for your employees, perceive your role with inner and outer clarity, inspire, look ahead and perform at your best with your healthy and motivated team.

However, this is difficult because you:

  • are highly absorbed in your daily business and find little time for leadership topics.

  • have an open-door policy, but often you are involved too late when problems arise.

  • don't know what attitude to adopt and what you can do in case of conflicts and frequent absences of employees.

  • do not like to criticise or you feel uncomfortable dealing with unpleasant topics.

What can you do? Here are some tips:

  1. Managing people takes time. Make sure you schedule enough time in your agenda on a regular basis. Treat this time as if it were a customer meeting. Expand the scope of your employees so that you can delegate tasks.

  2. Hold regular bilateral discussions and team meetings, even if they seem unnecessary in advance.

  3. Take conflicts seriously and deal with them actively. Offer both parties a platform for exchange that you moderate impartially.

  4. Take advantage of frequent absences to discuss the employee's well-being at work.

  5. Engage in a critical discussion with your good intentions and stick to the facts. Interpretations unnecessarily complicate the conversation.

As a work and organisational psychologist FSP, I have been supporting managers and employees in their development process for many years. I can help you to become aware of your skills and to acquire further ones that will facilitate your day-to-day work as manager. Topics such as communication, health at work (e.g. psychosocial risks, resilience, accident prevention...), crisis management, conflict management (including mobbing, sexual harassment...), human resources-related issues (e.g. employee evaluation) are among my areas of expertise. I would be pleased to create a tailor-made training program for you and your management team or to coach you individually.
